2018-19 Season

Manoa Valley Theatre today announced its play selections for the theatre’s 50th Anniversary Season. A very special lineup has been put together.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Manoa Valley Theatre’s first half century!” MVT producing director, Dwight Martin, proudly stated in making the announcement. “So many people have contributed to our history and have been responsible for catapulting us from our humble launch in 1969 to our cornerstone position in Hawaii’s performing arts community in 2019. It’s extraordinary to consider this company’s artistic evolution, and a privilege to celebrate its achievement of entertaining Hawaii for fifty years.”

“The 2018-19 Season has been specially crafted to honor the theatre’s past with four of our most popular and greatest hits, as well as to honor our community with two extraordinary dramatic premieres that have specific impact to Hawaii and its citizens,” he continued. “We’re equally enthused about the tremendous talent embodied by our guest directing team.”

The 50th Anniversary six-play season will run from August 2018 to August 2019.

Judges selected from the audience actually vote and determine the winner who, therefore, may be different at each performance. The show takes its shots not by mocking the pageant from the outside, but by being one. The six contestants compete for the title of Miss Glamouresse (Glamouresse being a cosmetics company). Miss Deep South, Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial Northeast. and Miss Texas and compete in evening gowns, talent, swim-wear and spokesmodeling, plus the finalists answer actual calls from the Glamouresse Beauty Crisis Hotline.
